Drone Operator Registration in Ireland

If your drone is over 250g or has a camera, you must register as an operator. Here’s a quick guide on registering with the Irish Aviation Authority (IAA) using their MySRS platform.

Create an Account on MySRS: Sign up with your email and verify your identity. This will simplify future interactions with the IAA.

Complete Online Training: A short training course (15 minutes) is required. You’ll watch a video and answer 40 questions. The training is free, but certification for drones over 250g costs €40 and lasts five years.

Register as an Operator: You register yourself as an operator, not the drone itself. Registration costs €38 and is valid for two years.

Get Pilot Competency Certification (if required): For larger drones or specific flying types, additional training with an authorized training organization (DUTO) is required.
